Ольвита

An international conference «PrognosRruit-2010» held in Kyiv on 5-7 August 2010, co-hosted by Vinnytsya Fruit Supply Chain Development Project of International Finance Corporation (IFC) together with European Agricultural Union and the General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives (Copa-Cogeca).This year, on IFC initiative, the annual conference was held in Kiev (Ukraine) for the first time, where around three hundred representatives of the international fruit sector from 20 countries met. The Conference brings all members of fruit supply chain together for consultations and the WAPA (World Association of Producers of Apples and Pears) forecast for global apple and pear production for the coming year is announced.

In the context of the conference technical tours were organized. The participants, besides visit to Vinnitsa fruit farms, also visited the company «Olvita», where they got acquainted with the production and storage of fruits and vegetables. Participants have seen entire production cycle from raw material entering tоwarehouse of ready products, including all types of processing: washing, cleaning, cutting, packing. The participants of the conference visited the fruit terminal, which is currently leased to national retail chain under a distribution center for berries, fruits and vegetables group. Members of the tour is not only interested in the process of storage and marketing of apples and pears, but the whole fruit and vegetable variety, as they were interested in vegetables and fruits varieties, which are most popular among Ukrainian consumers, their major suppliers and types of packaging. Also, the tour visited coolstotages of «Olvita» company, where they have marked a high technical level of equipment and storage conditions of products in different temperature ranges. Pleasant completion of the tour was a fourchette, where participants could exchange their impressions at informal atmosphere and taste the products of «Olvita» company.

Visit to «Olvita» company ensured conference participants that Ukraine has successfully applied the latest European technology of production, processing and storage of vegetables and fruits.  «Olvita» company - a striking example of integration of the European approach to the Ukrainian economic reality, and its experience makes company a potential guide for foreign companies wishing to develop their business in Ukraine.
